The gig I put on last night for Hands of Hate got around 120 people in (20 short of selling out). However, I went to see I-Def-I on Wednesday and there was around 60 people tops. It all depends on the promotion I guess, although to be fair I-Def-I are from Manchester and so won't have the local support that Hands of Hate do.

very true, also depends if your just starting out or not.. + who the bands are on the night etc... alot revolves around this.

I have found that not many bands support each other, and their fans will watch them and them only, isn't it about time people started to support each other more?

Aye it does happen a lot, we cant really say to our fans "oh watch the other bands" cuz if you start tellin your fans what to do.. they may start to dissapear. Its up to them really, they come to see us basically cuz we're heavy metal and we put on an a good show, if other metal bands are there... i'll say oh yeah be sure to check them out! but if your indie or something.. i wont expect our fans to like your music, vice versa. We all understand that here cuz we're all in bands... we are all quite open to music and give other bands appreciation and support as its a friggin tough job! the fans will never know this! They come out to party to good music and support mates!

WHY NOT WATCH ALL THE BANDS AND SHOW THEM SOME SUPPORT!!!! Hey hun If my memory serves me correct, I believe it was only us that actually watched anyone else! We do appricate your support on Friday Im only sorry that it wasn't a great night - the varsity, its promoter and the bands that played there - other than yourselves obviously, have gone down in my estimation :-( We have some more gigs coming up in Brum and stuff if you guys fancy another support slot? I've got to say, I agree about bands not knowing how to support each other anymore!
The only local band I've seen support their supports and vice versa is Tin Omen. Those guys always make a point of coming down and watching their supports and whenever they have supported they stayed and watched the guys that put them on! (there may be more but i ain't seen them yet thats all!)
All the time I watch bands packing up thier cars/vans and rushing off as soon as they finish playing no-one wants to help each other anymore and i'm sick of it!!
We have the basis for a F**KING AMAZING community here in this very forum so lets get it together guys come on for gods sake before it's too late!!

In complete agreement. Best bands I've gigged with around these parts is Speed Theory and Nooses For Neckties. PV and most of the PV fans will watch them now whenever we can and likewise those guys always support us. Result = the last Little Civic gig we played with those two bands was absolutely awesome! Definitly planning more shows with that same line up because it makes such a rocking night that the crowd get into it more as well.

For support wise Deadweight have been darn cool at the gigs we've been to. I aint seen ST or NFN yet to know ! Defect were cool aswell and Ctisiphon after eventually chatting with them at the end of the gig! I take ppl's words though and nights generally just get better when bands support each other, i know i feel better when i can walk up to another band and jus chat n av a laugh. Especially if somethin goes wrong etc borrowing gear and stuff. I'll admit i was peed with ST before about the whole gig shebang, but im over it. Being able to admit when your wrong and being a c**k seperates the men from the boys. I say every metal band, every indie band, every band.. that plays... music? Lets jus get out there and do it man. Jus watch what you sign, and support the f**king scene babbby yeah!
