Maybe some WR gigs might get things going again? An all dayer featuring loads of WR bands to build the community? What you think?

My band will do a wolvesrocks gig if needed. I saw a wolvesrocks sticker somewhere the other day and it reminded me about this. I haven't been on the board in ages. Apologies.

Hmm.. well I like the ideas left by the users above.. With something like the wolves rocks boards, you need someone to constantly be updating/thinking of ideas AND getting paid. so whether perhaps a monthly gig thing will work? I'm not sure how Telford rocks works, but they seem to have more people using their boards yet there is more of a music scene in Wolves. Maybe just keeping it simple might work? www.cornerstudios.co.uk

We used to be based in Stoke where the music scene has a really good community feel to it. Everyone knows everyone and helps each other out which helps the scene to thrive. As a result the stoke rock scene boards are pretty good because everyone knows each other so they stay pretty busy. They used to run Godless Festival twice a year which was an all day music festival 2 stages and it was ace. Everyone used to go because it was such a great day and everyone supported each others bands. I definitely think some Wolves Rocks gigs would be great if we could get board members attending and then follow up with photo's and reviews and stuff. It probably wouldnt be that hard to arrange if we all helped out with it.

Telford is a small town with a small central community, wolverhampton is a larger city with so much going on that its broken down into 100s of smaller communities. I did put on a WR gig about 2 years ago, it cost me money and time and all I got was critistism. So although I support the idea of doing more gigs, I am sadly not in the position to help. I don't live in wolverhampton - I just wanted to help wolverhampton help itself

lol when i tried to organise a gig it just didnt see worth the hassle tbh We need proper promoters in wolverhampton and the venue's to be posting here really.. to have any chance of making a wolvesrocks gig a success.

Agreed when we organised events it became more hassle than it seemed worth, the turn out was low compared to the effort we put in.
Which is strange when nights we've done in Bham have been a great success.

I think the boardies etc in wolvo like to just chat.. when it comes down to business and organising things it tends to just.. drift off in the breeze lol

hmm not a bad idea - we played the planet a few weeks back - venue was great. Wasn't much of a crowd but I get the feeling that the promotions company running it hadn't done much to raise awareness.

If you find someone who can be arsed to do a WR gig then go for it. If not it'll turn out just like it does.. bands seeing the word "gig" and hanging their wang out to it straight away.. but yet still no main organisers and the topic just gets laid to dust.. then brought up again in another two months.. ppl wondering why it isnt happening.. its tough for an organiser, i gotta admit some promoters are c**ks.. but some are actually genuine and pretty cool. Its hard to get the time to do it really.. and not many of us who would want to organise the WR night have the time. You need two people atleast to organise the whole thing, who can handle it. They sort out bands that they think would be suitable etc that would obviously bring in a good crowd. I think it'd be quite good mainly because it'd be a regular night once a month, and there you have a venue, all you need is the organisers. Local bands would get a gig and hopefully it'd bring out the people who sit on their comps all day You'd need to try and make it all ages also, cuz kids will go to anything and try and attempt to get alcohol. We all did.

The only thing I have found is that everything on here seems to be centered around rock/heavy rock bands, anything else seems to go unnoticed. Maybe if a gig that had a variety of different styles was put on it may attract more people and do well?

It doesnt go unnoticed, heavy rock is usually quite the underdog to light rock, as light rock goes out to more people than heavy. I dont mind it'd be good to see a few more local bands but as what you say in the other thread about fans watching certain bands etc... this would probably happen
