and here's a review of the first night
Last Thursday, the first night of the new Jamplant night at
The Oakley Country Club was stunningly good..
most resplendent and bodacious..
..probably the Loveliest live music night in town... anytown...
There was a v fluffy crowd, great beer, a balcony to have a fag on, (whilst admiring the rather splendid landscaped gardens... and pool.. and still hearing the moosic...) two chefs on hand to whip up whatever one might have fancied in the nosh department.. and of course, the loveliest, most congenial and warm-hearted hosts
in Ray Maria & Lel, what more could one ask for..?
oh, yeah.. and the music?
well... if you asked anyone there present, they'd tell you
This is as Good as it Gets!
At the Love-liest and newest live music night in town... anytown...
this has to have been one of the loveliest in l'histoire du Jomplon..! (the history of the Jamplant too...)
So.. once again Jones... Ha!
We rolled up to the Oakley with the spirit of heroes of the new frontier,(well, actually more like world-weary musos who were thinking.. 'ah well, here we go again..')
But..! What a night it turned out to be.. Le Spirite du Jomplon abounded.. and wafted.. ( and is soon to be released as the latest fragrance from Armani.. with an accompanying range of.. - shut up Baz..!)
But really, one could.. Smell the Love!
An absolutely all-star cast list, converged synchronistically, serendipitously even, as is the JamPlant way, and thenceforward the utter musicality and sheer talent from all shades of the musical spectrum that effervesced and swirled within the hallowed walls of the Oakley was truly spellbinding...
We use these terms not for the sake of hyperbole, as is often the case with muso journos, but from a true and heartfelt sense of the real spirit of what the JamPlant is all about..
Thursday night was it!
And we've no doubt at all that this coming Thursday promises
the same.. but different.. if you get our drift..
Here's the night as we remember anyway, Stu Jones, supported, at the drop of a hat, by Stu (from OneWay!) casually strolled rather delightfully through a selection of classics after which new face Pete Winwood played a pretty special set, entertaining all with great voice, some lovely guitar & rather nice songs too!
Oh, Stu.. re; ( from OneWay! Sorry Stu – couldn’t recal your last name!)
Senan Gallagher played and sang a very fine mix of originals and covers in his inimitable folks-bluesy-jazzy-stylee..
Parv Bharat, (who just happened to turn up..) and who happens to be one of the world's finest tabla players, (and we really do sh*t you not here, he's amazing..) brought with him a new Jamplanter, Arun, playing Violin, and with Stu (from OneWay!) joining them with his technically brilliant yet very fluid and thoughtful guitar style, commenced to play a genuinely beautiful melodic suite of instrumentals which delighted everyone. And anyone would have been well chuffed just to have heard that!
But..! there was more, much more...
Parv & Stu, bless their Jamplant hearts, then jammed with everyone else!
In keeping with Jamplant tradition, further fabulous examples of musicians who'd never played together before just getting it on 'right here right now' and jamming it out - feckin' fabulous!
First up was Senan G, switching to piano, (his forte) (ha! sorry, couldn't resist..) who with Parv & Stu, jammed it out, tightbutloose jazz-stylee.. V delish...
Barrie V dropped into mode with them on a rather suave but moving jazzed-up version of Roxanne..
wait.. there’s more…
then…
Sen, still on piano, & Baz stayed up and delivered a tasty schmorgasbord of some of Barrie's finest, Senan weaving some ivory magic seamlessly between Bazza's memorable melodies..
Rupert turned up late-on, and finished up the evenin' with a fab varied selection of poptastic covers mate, playing some nice guitar & piano too..
How nice was all this? !!
Very Very..
Be there this week, all this Love is free!
the Jamplant has returned...
