they were in our camp site!! Luckily we left sunday night before it kicked off but it looked pretty nasty! what happened was that while guns and roses where on the main stage Prodigy were on in the Snickers tent so a lot of people were told by security they would have to watch guns (because the tent was full). So these angry people went to watch guns who were then rubbish and antagonised the crowd and swore at them. by the time they got back to camp a lot of people were drunk, angry and feeling very cheated so they went mad!
If you search You Tube for download video's there some vids of the riots.

I went. Wat a weekend. Riots haven't put me off one bit. They were nothing all beit the first riots ever at Donington.
Heres something posted on the download forums from Livenation thereselves
MESSAGE TO THE BOARDIES FROM STUART GALBRAITH, FESTIVAL DIRECTOR
First of all, a huge thanks to you for making Download 06 such a brilliant event. We tried hard to give you what you wanted, from bands through to fun and facilities, and we hope that we got a lot of it right for you.
Meeting many of you at the Boardies Barbeque kicked off the weekend in great style for me. I was genuinely pleased and interested in meeting you all.
As messageboard members, you will know by now that an unfortunate minority of people (approximately 150) tried to spoil the event on the last night. We are working with the police to ensure that this doesn't have a negative impact on the future of Download festival.
First of all I would like to personally clear up some points, as some boardies have written some very plausible, but totally untrue things. Here's what happened:
· There were approximately 150 "troublemakers" causing the disturbances in early hours of Monday morning, between about midnight - 6am. · NO-ONE DIED · NO-ONE was seriously injured (thank god). · Police did NOT use rubber bullets NOR did they use tear gas · The only gas canisters used were those irresponsibly thrown onto fires by the key troublemakers · There were 12 arrests on Monday morning, and these were in direct connection with the disturbances · There were only 5 arrests at the festival across the whole weekend prior to that: 2 of which were for previous outstanding offences; 2 of which were for car theft; and 1 of which was for tent theft. · Be suspicious of anyone on the messageboards who says that they have "inside knowledge" of meetings, or of anything else about the events surrounding the events of Monday morning. Unless Phil or Carrie are posting the info, it is 99% certain to bbe false. · For all those who were victims of theft from their tents, we are very sympathetic, but for gods sake - remember some basic security - DO NOT leave video cameras, credit cards etc unattended in your tent. There were plenty of lockers available at £5 for the whole weekend. If you didn't use them for valuables this year PLEASE use them next year, and try to minimise the valuables you bring with you!
Now for my appeal to you:
We would really like your help: if you saw anything, or captured anything on camera or video, that covers the disturbances on Sunday evening / Monday morning, we would like to see it. If you have any commentary on the events that unfolded after midnight on Sunday; or if you were affected as a victim either by the troublemakers or the police, we would like to hear from you.
The kind of activity that we saw on Monday morning will not destroy Download, but it will jeopardise elements of the festival. The cost of staffing the event will rise, and the costs of insurance and paying for damages this year will inevitably have a knock-on effect.
Help us to keep Download the way you want it. Send any commentaries, and particularly photos or videos of any troublemakers to us at forumssupport@downloadfestival.co.uk - Thank you in advance for your help.
And once again, thanks for making Download 06 such an amazing event - here's to Download 07. Remember that as a special thank you to hard-core festival goers, a limited supply of next year's tickets will be on sale at this year's prices from Friday morning at 9am.
See you at the front!
Stuart.

Someone should point him to those youtube videos then Well i was where it all kicked off when it did. And i witnessed the Riot police doing the charges and stuff, and to be honest, it wasn't all THAT bad.... Ok it shocked me as it was the first time this had happend at Donington, but the riots at Leeds/Reading are alot worse EVERY year, and i wouoldn't even call them riots to be honest. But who cares i am still there next year! =)
